Health in 2023
There is no doubt that the topic of “health” has come to the forefront in the past three years.
Merriam-Webster’s dictionary defines health as “the condition of being sound in body, mind, and spirit; freedom from physical disease or pain; the general condition of the body.”
Most people will agree that individuals have three areas of health; mind, body, and soul.
- Physical Health includes everything from overall well-being to physical fitness.
- Mental Health includes individual psychological condition, cognitive, and emotional capabilities.
- Spiritual Health is measured by the amount of peace and harmony an individual experiences in their day to day life and includes aspects of religion, heightened awareness, supernatural concepts, or personal spiritual values.
All three areas of health are essential to maintaining optimal health.
Self Healing Power
We have control over many aspects of our own health.
The thoughts and beliefs that we hold and our daily habits and practices will determine the health of our minds and bodies.
Placebo studies have routinely demonstrated the power of our minds to aid in our own healing.
If you aren’t familiar with placebo studies I encourage you to look into them, the research is fascinating!
Natural Health is a self-care philosophy, in which natural methods are used to help maintain and restore overall health and wellness.
Some examples of natural methods are; organic food, herbs, supplements, essential oils, using natural sunlight, grounding, and water emersion.
Healthcare Politicized
As a result of the current concerns regarding the spread of communicable diseases and viruses, there has been a large push by the government and “health” experts to be able to dictate what if any medical procedures or practices are in the best interest of the public.
While I agree in some cases it is important to listen to and consider their position and recommendations.
I ultimately believe it is the right and responsibility of the individual to determine their own health practices.
It is important that we learn to listen to our bodies and figure out what works for us individually.
We all have so many different contributing factors that play a role in determining our overall health.
- The food we eat
- Genetic predisposition
- Exercise or lack thereof
- The amount and quality of water we drink
- Sunlight exposure
- Levels of exposure to pollutants and toxins
- Individual stress levels
So it is virtually impossible to have all contributing factors considered when making health care decisions for large portions of the population.
This is why self-assessment along with self healthcare management is so important.
Only you know your body and your family’s health needs.
Take Your Power Back
Health and wellness is truly an inside job.
Only YOU know your daily habits; eating, drinking, thinking, sleeping, exercising or lack of exercise, use of any recreational drugs, or any addictions that you may have.
If you go to the doctor for stomach pain, as in my case, the doctor is only getting part of the story.
Like how often you get pain or if there is anything associated with the pain.
The doctor will only focus on the current ailment or condition.
He or she would not even consider any other medical conditions that you may have that could be adding or causing the symptoms or pain.
In my case, I had uterine fibroids that were adding to my pain and caused confusion for many years.
It wasn’t until I made the connection that I was actually dealing with two different issues; chronic gastritis and uterine fibroids, that were both causing me severe pain in the same general area of my body.
That I was finally able to start taking steps to help resolve and heal those issues.
YOU Control YOUR Own Health
Health, like spirituality and religion, is a very personal thing.
No one can truly help you maintain or regain your health better than YOU.
Learn to listen to and work WITH your body to aid in finding a balance of your physical, mental, and spiritual health.
Because your HEALTH is in your OWN hands.
True health can only be determined by self awareness and learning to understand your own body.
Overall health and wellness is the relationship between YOU and YOUR body!
