The therapeutic benefits of being outdoors are well known.
Very few things in life are as good for your health, as being outside on a warm sunny beautiful day.
To fully enjoy being out in nature, requires you to be fully present.
Being fully present means to consciously observe and actively enjoy the moment.
The best way to do that is to use all of your five senses.
Using your five senses in nature:
Seeing: Visually taking in all of the sights
Trees blowing in the wind
Birds flying
Squirrels running up and down trees
People out having conversations
Children playing and laughing
Watching the waves of the ocean
Water flowing in a river
Insects on the ground
Grass, trees, and flowers
Hearing: Listening to all of the outdoor noises and sounds
Sound of the wind blowing
Leaves rustling
Birds chirping
Dogs barking
Children playing and laughing
People talking and moving about
Smelling: The variety of aromas hitting your nose
The sweet scent of flowers
The unmistakable smell of wet soils
Fresh Air
Food cooking in the distance
People burning trash outside (in the country)
The smell of wildlife (fish or animals)
Touching: The amazing feeling of being outdoors
The winds blowing on your skin
The warmth of the sun shining down on you
The sand or grass on your feet
The rain coming down on you.
Feeling the water of the ocean, river, or swimming pool.
Holding a flower or plant
Picking up seashells at the beach
Picking up rocks along a hiking trail
Feeling the bark of a big tree
Tasting: Savoring the flavors
Fruit from a tree
Enjoying Ice cream or snow cone at the park
Taste of the morning air
Water (usually by accident at the beach, river, or pool and not pleasant but part of the experience)
Ice cold drink
The food at a picnic or barbeque
Get outdoors and enjoy those moments fully using all of your senses, as often as possible.
Your health and wellness require you to get out and into nature!
